It was one year ago today I received a phone call at the start of the
ToxBank meeting in Lisbon that Nicki had died.  Death had struck
suddenly and hard and although I finally got up again to live further, I
still reel from its blow.

In December I organised the burial of Nicki's ashes with those of her
first husband Peter in our local Swiss graveyard (see attached). The
gravestone has now arrived and has been placed in time for today. I will
visit it after the fresh snowfall here this morning. And it is good to
recall also those many happy times together on trips including working
ones spent with many of you. I attach a photo of Nicki from our trip to
Namibia and Zambia in 2009.

Thanks for those who have provided support to me in living on and 
returning to life and work during this past year.
