Dear All: I would like to welcome you with a first post to the OpenTox Interest Group. We setup up this group and list with the purpose of providing a mechanism for the sharing of news on developments in the field of predictive toxicology. This will include OpenTox developments, but we encourage news on other related projects and developments to be contributed for inclusion. We will run the list as follows: a) Any list member may post an item of potential interest to the group members b) Posts should be on a predictive toxicology subject: e.g., alternative testing method, in silico, in vitro, integrated testing strategy, mechanisms, REACH etc. c) Posts should aim to be more of a general interest nature: e.g., new application, regulation, scientific result, project, workshop announcement etc. d) Posts will be subject to moderation e) Posts will be collated into a digest format which will be circulated monthly f) An indexed searchable web archive will be available at http://www.opentox.org/home/mailinglist OpenTox Collaboration Pool We have recently setup an OpenTox Collaboration Pool from which members could participate in a collaborative predictive toxicology project, develop a funding proposal or response to a call opportunity together, or develop an innovation or best practice. Partners can bring diverse expertise combining /in vitro/ assays, /in silico/, QSAR, systems biology, kinetics, human epidemiology, adverse effects data etc. Collaborations will take a virtual organisation (VO) approach, i.e., partners can bring contributing knowledge, computational or experimental capabilities to a partnership for the duration of a project or other endeavour. Consider joining the OpenTox Collaboration Pool to take part in new proposals and projects, including a collaborative pilot project this year. More information at: http://www.opentox.org/data/blogentries/public/opentoxcollaborationpool OpenTox Reports and Presentations You can download OpenTox reports and presentations from the Reading Room located at: http://www.opentox.org/home/documents Initial reports document the early design and specification work for the OpenTox framework: OpenTox D1.1 Report on Initial Requirements, Standards and APIs (February 2009) OpenTox D1.2 Report on Graphical User Interface Design (August 2009) OpenTox D2.1 Report on Project Repository and Website (February 2009) OpenTox D3.1 Report on Initial Ontologies for Toxicology Data (February 2009) OpenTox D4.1 Report on Algorithm Evaluation and Selection (February 2009) Four reports on subsequent implementation work including the API, initial web services and prototype applications should be added in coming weeks. OpenTox API For those of you interested in involvement in technical development work, the recently updated OpenTox API is available at: http://www.opentox.org/dev/apis/api-1.1 best regards Barry Barry Hardy PhD Director, Community of Practice & Research Activities and OpenTox Project Coordinator (_www.opentox.org_) Douglas Connect Switzerland Tel: +41 61 851 0170 Email: barry.hardy -(at)- douglasconnect.com
