Dear All,

IST will prepare the upcoming Work Group Session 1: APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) at the
OpenTox Euro Meeting on Wednesday 30. September in Dublin (9:00-13:00 local time).
For best preparations we like to involve the present and future API user and API designers. So this
email is addressed to all current and former involved groups (OpenTox, ToxBank, eNanoMapper, ...) . If
we have forgotten someone you know, please forward this email.

If you have a few minutes, please have a look at the following questions and send us an email.

* Who of you or your team is able to join the Session in Dublin?
* Do you have specific topics you want to discuss?
* Or do you have any other priorities for the Session?
* If you are not able to be in Dublin, would you like to join virtually by Skype (or maybe Gotomeeting) ?
* And if you are not able to join anyway please let us know if you have any important message or topic.

read also the OpenTox Website Session Announcement:

The primary objective of the OpenTox API working group is to standardize and
document REST interfaces and data models of OpenTox webservices.

After the initial OpenTox project several follow-up projects have extended the
original API. In addition several services had to modify original specifications
after gaining more practical experience with the original implementation (e.g.
to ensure better scalability, to provide better interoperability or additional
features).

At this workshop we intend to

- collect current implementations of OpenTox webservices and their documentation
- identify differences of their REST API and data models
- discuss scientific and technical rationales for these design decisions
- identify inconsistencies and review design decisions
- update OpenTox specifications based on the practical experience gained so far
- document REST APIs and data models for future reference

best regards,

Micha Rautenberg
